“PROUD TAGUMEÑA”

This artwork of mine is an expression of my inner self as a person who left my native land to work in a far, far place from home, to uplift my self as a professional and help my family too.  Yes, we Filipinos are known for being a family oriented people.  Yes, to some it is painful to the ear, but commonly it is true to almost all Filipinos.  If ever we can hear or see our fellowmen succeed in something, or improvements in our place, we feel so happy and proud for them.  Yes, we Filipinos are usually fond of claiming ownership of whatever successes any Filipino had achieved, maybe because of the close family ties that we have, and we feel sad too if there is any Filipino that had committed wrong.
Creating this piece, is a little bit of a challenge to me because this is not my usual style, I focus on creating abstract and women portraits, but this time I want to show the beauty of Tagum City thru my art in a representational style.  In this painting, I used acrylic paint and paint brush.  It is a monochromatic artwork, in grayscale, to convey simplicity and achieve vintage effect.
Frankly, I have my humble beginnings in the town of Tagum, until it became city under the province of Davao del Norte.  I earned my elementary, high school and college education in this same city, without necessarily going out to other big cities to earn my higher education.  Same with my other sibling, we were able to finish our college education here in this city, except our eldest sister.
While working and practicing my profession in other countries, there are times that I really feel lonely and missing my family so much.  This is the situation that pushed me to divert my interest and attention to painting.  Indeed, this helped me so much to forget the loneliness that I feel, being far from my family, and aside from that, it helped me financially and psychologically.  When I came home for vacation here in my city of origin, I felt so proud seeing the many developments and talents that we have here, displayed in different ways.  This is what pushed me to document all the beautiful developments and unique creations of some Tagumenos, extra ordinary ideas and special talents of our friends and workers here in Tagum, which indeed made Tagum an extra ordinary place for people to remember ! ! !  “AT ONE GLANCE, YOU CAN SEE THE BEST OF TAGUM “ . For such, I can say that I am indeed a PROUD TAGUMENA.
In this artwork, this is all about developments in our city, best practices, talents of our friends and neighbors, and initiatives of our brothers and sisters and the government as well, placed in one canvas.
